Privacy Policy

1. About this policy

This policy explains how Genie (“we”, “us”) handles personal information across our website, our demo request, and the Genie service. It is written to be clear rather than legalistic.

2. The two kinds of information we handle

We handle two kinds of information. First, information about people who visit our website or sign up. Second, information we process on behalf of the businesses (“sellers”) who use Genie — including their own business data and the personal data of their customers. Different responsibilities apply to each, as explained below.

3. Information from visitors and signups

When you visit the site or sign up, we collect the details you provide: your name, business name, WhatsApp number, email address, country and city, business type, and any message you send. For security and abuse prevention we also record limited technical metadata, such as the time of your submission and the IP address used. We use this only to protect the service.

4. Information we process to run the service

To run a seller’s assistant, we process the seller’s catalogue, prices and policies, and the following data that flows through the service: the content of WhatsApp conversations between the business and its customers; customer names and phone numbers; order details such as items, delivery address and the chosen payment method; and any payment confirmations or screenshots a customer chooses to share. We also keep service logs needed to operate and secure the platform.

5. How we use information

We use information to respond to signups and set up your account; to run the assistant — understanding customer messages and replying from the seller’s own business data; to capture orders and notify the seller; to provide the storefront, campaigns, payments, customer records and analytics; and to keep the service secure and reliable. We do not sell personal information.

6. How the AI uses conversations

Customer conversations take place on WhatsApp and are processed by our AI to understand what the customer is asking and to reply from the seller’s own catalogue, prices and policies. The assistant is designed to answer from real business data rather than to invent information.

7. Our role

For information about website visitors and leads, we are the data controller. For the personal data of a seller’s customers that is processed through the service, the seller is the data controller and we act as a data processor on the seller’s instructions.

8. Sharing and service providers

We use trusted third-party providers to run the service — including cloud hosting, secure file and object storage, AI processing, and website analytics — who process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements. Conversations are sent and received through WhatsApp so that messages can reach customers. We do not sell personal information, and we share it only as described here or where required by law.

9. Payment information

We do not store full card or bank account numbers. Where a customer shares a payment confirmation or screenshot (for example, to confirm a prepaid order), it is stored as part of the seller’s order records and is access-controlled.

10. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses essential cookies to function and, where enabled, analytics or measurement tools that help us understand how the site is used. A separate cookie notice and consent controls are being introduced; until then, you can manage cookies through your browser settings.

11. International processing

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own by us or our providers. Where it is, we take steps intended to keep it protected to a comparable standard.

12. How long we keep information

We keep signup information only for as long as needed to set up your account, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Where you become a customer, we keep account and service data while you use Genie and for as long as needed to provide the service or meet legal obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

13. Security

Access to personal information is permissioned and logged. Sensitive credentials, such as WhatsApp session data, are encrypted and are never displayed in plain text.

14. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you can ask to access, correct, delete, export or object to the use of your personal information. Contact us using the details below and we will respond. If you are a customer of a business that uses Genie, please direct your request to that business, since we process your data on their behalf.

15. Children

Genie is intended for businesses and is not directed to children.

16. Who’s responsible and how to contact us

The organisation responsible for your information is [legal entity name], [registered address]. You can reach us at the support email and WhatsApp number shown in the site footer for any privacy question or request.

17. Changes

We may update this policy as the service and our legal obligations evolve. The status shown at the top of this page reflects the current version.
